31 Aug 2011 Leave a Comment
With about 30 days to go till the GBCE and with about 30 classes on offer, each day we’re going post about one particular class. (There is no favoritism, pecking order, etc – it”s just random!) Today’s class is…
Christmas Ornaments by Anne Mullan – Masterclass 4, Saturday 0930 -1130 – Cost 25 euro
In Anne’s class you will get to make fabulous Christmas ornaments (to use ofr home decor or card making), using alcohol inks, distress inks, stamping, dry embossing, ultra thick embossing enamel (UTEE) and acrylic paints. A fantastic kit to make 10 beautiful ornaments consisting of acetate and chipboard shapes, patterned papers, a stamp and some fabulous acrylic paint.
This is a technique based class and is suitable for all levels. The class is a Masterclass, so it’s 2 hours long, with a maximum of 12 people, so lots of hands on tuition from Anne.
Anne Mullan is a fantastic crafter and mixed media artist who has exhibited in the Knit and Stitch show in Dublin and is due to be published in the Craft Stamper soon. She is also secretary of the Connaught Textile Crafters. She has been card making, papercrafting and creating beautiful mixed media art for several years and specialises in learning and perfecting techniques. If you want to know which is the best ink for stamping onto glossy or plain card, how to perfect your stamping; get the most out of your alcohol or distress inks, this lady has the knowledge.

The classlists and timetables are all done. The event booking website is all set up. Now I just need to press the button to make it all live. The pre-bookers have a little more time, and the classes have been selling well but don’t worry there’s still space in all the classes.
Everything will go live this Wednesday and we will publish all the links on the blog. So book some time off to study the classes, choose which ones you’re going to take and plan your weekend at the Great Big Craft Extravaganza!!!
Lots more tutors and classes

‘Off the Page Scrapbooking’ with Cathy Walsh of The Mayo Papercraft Club
Cathy Walsh set up her wedding stationery business (infinitydesign.ie) in 2001 and has been playing with paper ever since. A card maker and scrapbooker she recently attended the CHA summer show in Chicago, AMAZING. Her favourite crafty bits are paper, paper; oh and more paper not to mention stamps, paint and UTEE (she never goes anywhere without it). This is her third GBCE show and this time she is teaching a scrapbook class with a difference, inspired by the visual feast she saw at the CHA this summer.
Create a Fabulous Photo Album using Clear Scraps Mixables Christmas album with paint, inks, stamps, papers, ribbons and chipboard embellishments creating a beautiful scrapbook album to treasure your memories at Christmas. This would also be a fabulous christmas gift to give to a loved one. The kit includes everything you will need to complete the album ready to add your photos at Christmas.

Update from Kerry…

I am so delighted with the class lists for this year (sorry to be teasing – but all will be revealed soon). I finished everything last night, but needed to sleep on it and get it checked for errors by my helpers (Helen and Andrea) today.
We have a fantastic list with what I am sure you are going to agree is a great balance of different styles and levels and lots of very talented tutors. My motto for this year was to have an inclusive event for all Irish Crafters and I think we are going to have a fab weekend altogether.
Prebookers will have their timetables this weekend and standard booking will open towards the end of next week.

It’s all coming together now, and hot information that we’ve had to hold on to because it wasn’t confirmed, can now be made public – phew!
Crafting Ireland, Ireland’s online craft magazine are coming! They are supporting us all the way, and are taking a stall at the show. They will be running challenges throughout the show and you’ll also get the chance to chat to them, find out what’s happening in the craft world and discover Crafting Ireland’s great new magazine.
We’ve added another tutor to our Tutor’s page, Jess. She will be teaching a Penny Black class and if the photos on her blog are anything to go by, this class is going to sell out quick.
