TUTORS

Cathy Walsh set up her wedding stationery business (infinitydesign.ie) in 2001 and has been playing with paper ever since.  A card maker and scrapbooker she recently attended the CHA summer show in Chicago, AMAZING.  Her favourite crafty bits are paper, paper; oh and more paper not to mention stamps, paint and UTEE (she never goes anywhere without it). This is her third GBCE show and this time she is teaching a scrapbook class with a difference, inspired by the visual feast she saw at the CHA this summer.

Anne Mullan is a fantastic crafter and mixed media artist who has exhibited in the Knit and Stitch show in Dublin and is due to be published in the Craft Stamper magazine soon. She is also secretary of the Connaught Textile Crafters.  She has been card making, papercrafting and creating beautiful mixed media art for several years and specialises in learning and perfecting techniques.  If you want to know which is the best ink for stamping onto glossy or plain card, how to perfect your stamping; get the most out of your alcohol or distress inks, this lady has the knowledge.

Cliona Larkin

Cliona is a card maker, freelance designer and a demonstrator for Do Crafts. she teach s locally in her home town and runs workshops and demonstrates around the country.  She says, ‘I love what I do and couldn’t wish for a better career in life. My main belief is that anyone can do this fabulous craft. Beginners can make the same stuff as the advanced people it just takes a little more time. The more people that start card making the more fun to share around. Its all about giving it a go and having a blast while doing it. I am an avid Internet junkie, I spend ages searching for new folds and ideas that I can make into cards and projects and convert them into demonstration material.
I have recently become a blogger and you can follow me here blog.
I am really excited about coming back to the Great Big Crafting Extravaganza after a few years gap – so much to share, so little time!!!’

With backgrounds in a variety of areas ranging from theatre to graphic design to film and writing we are kept pretty busy creating fun and functional items, while also making sure we make them as eco friendly as possible.

We are always looking for feedback and love collaborating, so if anyone out there has an idea for a crazy creature or has a handmade craft tip they would like to share, we would love to hear from you.

Jackie Mooney - Hello, I am Jackie Mooney and am delighted to be teaching at the GBCE this year, I have been cardmaking for sixteen years, ( it’s amazing what a little rubber stamp can lead to!!! )  for the past three years I have been holding my own monthly card making workshops in Dublin and I love meeting up with everyone each month, I update my blogs regularly so to see the style of cards I make you can have a look here  http://jackies-space.blogspot.com/ where you will see all my Cards, Handmade Jewellery and a little bit of my photography… Looking forward to bringing my cardmaking and Jewellery to Athlone and meeting everyone.

Jess from Jess’s Crafty Things:  New tutor for GBCE this year, Jess will be teaching a Penny Black cardmaking class.  Visit her blog to get a taste of what’s in store.

Fiona Ryan: I have been card making for nearly 5 years and scrapbooking for 4 years. My favourite products for  card making are the glitter girl boards from which you can make stunning keepsakes and cards. For scrapbooking I use clean lines and simple layouts. I teach and demostrate for both An Siopa Bui in Spideal and Mandels Craft shop in Castlebar. I am married to a very understanding husband and we have three beautiful daughthers from 6years  to 11 months old. My place for crafting at home is my kitchen counter, bedroom floor, the couch in the sitting room, I even have crafting magazines in the bathroom!!! Looking forward to meeting you all in Athlone in September.

Sandra Dunne:I started scrapbooking about 3yrs ago after being introduced to it by some friends. From scrapbooking I also developed an interest in card making. I love stamping and I adore cute stamps. I am also a huge fan distress products. I am into all types of crafting, including creating minibooks and altering items. Most of my work can be seen on my blog. I run the Midlands Craft Club and host a monthly crop & class in Tullamore and through it have made some great friends. I also run a challenge blog, PaperPlay Challenges, with weekly challeges and I have been contributing to other blogs with some design team work.

Philomena Sullivan: Hello all, my name is Philomena Sullivan. I have been cardmaking for the last seven and a half year’s and absolutely love it. My favourite techniques are rubber stamping and fancy folds. I have been teaching and demonstrating at An Siopa Bui for the last four years and am best known for my advanced card making classes, where I offer people a challenge. You can see some of my work on my blog.

Sarah Holden: My name’s Sarah and when I am not at the beck and call of my two little rambunctious daughters  (ok – read naughty), I love to play with paper, ink and anything else todo with papercrafting. I should really remember that not everyone is  a crafter, when I tell strangers I have an obsession with rubber and a huge stash, well  – most back away and I’m worried about  those that don’t …

My current craft obsessions are spellbinders dies and cuttlebug embossing folders, which is just as well, as that’s what I’m going to using in my class – I also love Sizzix dies (took me a long time to get there, I resisted for as long as I could) and recycling chipboard from the local supermarket. I plan to one day write the great craft novel in which Tim Holtz would be the undeclared High King of all Craftopia, battling to reach his birthright against the might of Bibbians and the Merrians. Wendy Vecchi stars as fairy grunge mother , Nicole Heady would be in there with some great design plots and if you didn’t like the read; (or my lacksidasical  approach to grammar)  it could be ripped up for distressed backing paper.
I blog spasmodically here . And I’ll be in Athlone. See you there.
